BLUE ISLAND–Founded in December of 2014, Iona’s on the Blu is a full service restaurant and bar located in suburban Blue Island right on the south west border on Western Avenue, Chicago’s longest street.
Located about 16 miles south of Chicago’s Loop, Blue Island shares its northern boundary with Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood. It’s easily accessible off I57 Expressway.
Catherine Locke, a serial restaurant entrepreneur has owned two restaurants prior to this one. She loves the challenges and is determined to serve great food, create jobs and add more flavor to the Blue Island neighborhood.
“I started out purchasing a coffee shop, Cafe Simone, in front of a train station on 103 and Hale. I owned the ship from 1997 until 2001. The hours were from 5am until 11am. I would open my ship at 5am and jump on the train and travel to my real job at 8am. I managed a law firm,” she told BCE.
“This is my third restaurant. In 2010, I opened Iona’s Beverly Hills Café. I operated that restaurant until 2014. In December 2014 I opened Iona’s on the Blu, located at 12454 S. Western, Blue Island, IL,” she added.
Locke keeps the customers moving with regular live music and events.
