Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream is an iconic family-owned ice cream shop with two locations; one in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood and one in a southern suburb in Olympia Fields. Yahya and Nataki, high school sweethearts provide a warm and inviting atmosphere that has helped the ice cream shop become a beloved local favorite. What sets Shawn Michelle’s apart is its commitment to using only the finest and freshest ingredients.

The ice cream is really homemade (slow churned cooked custard), using the finest ingredients with an array of delectable flavors that range from classic cookies and cream and banana pudding to more adventurous options like honey cinnamon graham and bourbon butter pecan. They also have some amazing cake, custard and cobbler pairings. Customers can indulge in the rich, creamy goodness while enjoying the cozy ambiance that feels like a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

On the other side of town is Batter and Berries, located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, offers a distinct culinary experience that tantalizes taste buds with a unique fusion of flavors. They also have another location in Olympia Fields. Specializing in brunch, this restaurant has gained a reputation for its innovative menu that combines traditional breakfast items with unexpected twists.
